Does the bookstore accept donations?

Yes! We currently accept up to 2 bags or small business size boxes per customer. Donations times:

  • Monday 10-12

  • Friday 10-12

  • Saturday 10-12

What types of donations do you accept?

Items we currently DO accept:

  • hardback and paperback books in new or gently used in reasonably good condition

  • antique & collectible books

  • graphic novels, comic books & manga

  • Children’s & Young Adult books

  • magazines, literary zines & periodicals

  • vinyl records (33s, 45s & 78s), CDs & cassettes

  • DVDs, Blu-ray & video games

  • audio books

  • board games & puzzles

  • maps

We currently don’t accept:

  • encyclopedias

  • textbooks older than 4 years old

  • Readers Digest condensed books

Does the bookstore sell online?

No! We sell all of our donations at our brick and mortar store, making all of our wonderful books and media available to our local community.

Does the bookstore buy books?

No, all of our books are donated, and all of the proceeds from sales go to purchasing new books, and support programs for the Stockton Public Library.

What happens with all of the money that is raised?

For over 70 years the Friends of the Stockton Public Library has provided funding for new books and various literacy programs for the community, such as:

  • Summer Reading Programs

  • Teen Read Week

  • One Book One San Joaquin

  • Poetry Workshops

  • Reading Rally

  • Families Reading Together

  • Bookmobile

  • Miscellaneous Programs and Branch Requests

  • Scholarships for Librarians

  • Public Art Installations at various branches, including the Children’s Mural at Cesar Chavez Library

  • Laptops & charging stations

Where is the Stockton Public Library located?
